Prime Day 2022 has officially been announced!!!

July 12 & 13, Amazon Prime members will get the opportunity to shop at extremely discounted prices.

But is Prime day really worth the hype? I think so! Here's what Prime day does for me every year:

Try Amazon Prime free for 30 days, just in time for Prime Day!!

Christmas shopping

You ever heard the phrase "Christmas in July"? Yup, that's Prime day for me! I buy most of my Christmas presents on Prime day. It saves me a ton of money, I don't have the hassle of Black Friday shopping, and it is a huge to-do I can start checking off early.

Items I like to look for:

  • baby and children's toys

  • clothing for women, men, and kids

  • spa day packages

  • candles

  • gourmet food products, such as dried fruit, assorted nut samplers, or chocolate bark

Stock up now, save a lot of money, and take away the stress of the holidays by being done with holiday shopping early.

Home and garden

When you live with the goal of living off the land, you unfortunately need a lot of supplies to get started. Prime day is a great time to start stocking up on those items you know you'll need later.

Look for these garden items that commonly go on sale

  • garden gloves

  • garden hoses

  • seeds, especially packages or bundles

  • garden kneelers and seats

  • garden carts

I absolutely love love love my hydroponic system! Prime day is the perfect day for me to stock up on a ton of supplies for my system.

FoxFarm liquid nutrient has been my go-to since I started and I've never been disappointed.

For the homesteading home, look for these items that are common on Prime Day:

  • mason jars in bulk

  • pressure cookers (for canning)

  • dehydrators

  • soap making supplies (silicone molds, bulk oils)

  • power tools

You can snag some higher priced homesteading essentials at unbelievable prices. I purchased my dehydrator and various tools over the years and have saved thousands on regular retail prices. Totally worth the prime membership!

Home decorations

Last year, I was in the middle of moving during Prime Day. I knew the new house had hardwood floors and I needed some rugs. But rugs are so expensive! And I have dogs that make keeping rugs clean a difficult challenge.

I purchased 4 rugs that would have cost me $1125 at full price. But because I bought them on Prime Day, they only cost me $317!!! That's a 3.5x savings!

If my kid spills her drink on it and I never get that stain out, I don't care as much because of how cheap they were. If I want to change my decorations after a few years, I don't feel torn because I feel I spent so much on an item and have to keep it.

Security

Another big one that goes on sale like crazy is home security cameras. We live in the country away from people. But that also takes away some of the security of living near people. Plus we have the included problem of wild animals, such as hawks, coyotes, and the occasional bear. Having a few security cameras around the house has been a great piece of mind. We were able to snag these Blink mini cameras on sale. They work with our Alexa device, have night vision, two-way communication, and are very discrete.

There are so many positives of having a Prime membership, but one day of Prime shopping has saved me thousands over the years plus free shipping.

Leave a comment on what your favorite Prime Day snags were and help others build their homestead.
